Redesign of AFAC national incidents database and development of a decision-support tool AFAC – Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC
The Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC (BNHCRC) in collaboration with Australian and New Zealand National Council for Fire and Emergency Services Commission (AFAC) engaged CDAC to provide specialist advisory services for assisting the AFAC to:
* review the nature, quality and usability of current data in the AIRSNAT database;
* demonstrate the value of AIRSNAT data to the key stakeholders through a case study;
* identify potential areas of improvement to better align the data with the business needs of AFAC's members and the industry as a whole.
This project adopts a multi-method approach, coupled with data auditing, to determine what can be learned through the current data set and assess its quality, completeness and comparability and to demonstrate how this current dataset can inform business decisions and be of benefit to AFAC's members and the industry as a whole.
