Gender-Q: Shaping gender-affirming care for young people

Researchers in Australia are inviting trans and gender diverse young people to take part in an important international study.
The GENDER-Q Youth study explores young people’s experiences of gender-affirming care, as well as overall health and wellbeing.
The survey was created with input from trans and gender diverse young people and clinicians in Canada and the United States. It is now being tested with around 1,000 young people across Australia, Canada, the United States and Europe. Participants’ answers will help researchers identify which questions should be included in the final survey and assess how well it measures young people’s experiences.
The Australian researchers will also use this information to understand more about the experiences of trans and gender diverse young people in Australia specifically, including some of the differences between people who have gender-affirming care when they need it and those who do not. We will also examine gender euphoria, which is feeling good about your gender.
You can take part if you:
- are aged 14–25;
- identify as trans or gender diverse; and
- live in Australia.
You do not have to be accessing, or want to access, gender-affirming medical care to participate.
