Sustainability at La Trobe

Generations

Since 2010, the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability) has been embedding sustainability into curriculum, research and operations of the the University

The Office of the Prov Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability) replaced the University’s Sustainability Taskforce that had existed in 2009, and works with students, staff and our community in order to make sustainability central to everything we do.

In 2010, the University created 'Generations' the vehicle in which we connect our sustainability efforts, inspire change and communicate our knowledge.
This change will come through new policies, new practices, education, leadership and our culture.

We will seek to develop responsible leaders, professionals and citizens by:

  • Recognising that sustainability encompasses economic, social and environmental dimensions.
  • Integrating sustainability across all operations, curriculum and research.
  • Embedding sustainability in the culture and practices of the University through the broadest engagement with staff, students, employers and partners in the community and in government.
  • Becoming known as the leading sustainable university in Australia and a leader internationally.
