This prestigious scholarship, established by a collaboration between La Trobe University and the High Performance Sport Institute (Singapore), will be awarded to an outstanding applicant who is interested in integrating the use of current technologies to enhance female health literacy in a high-performance sport setting.

As an applicant, you should have a strong interest in female athlete health and well-being, with a specific focus on the physiological and psychosocial factors that shape female health literacy, communication, and support-seeking behaviours among high-performance female athletes. You should also have an appreciation for the potential of emerging technologies, specifically in generative AI and large language models, to deliver scalable, personalised, and evidence-informed educational interventions in sport settings.

This scholarship is open to applications from Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents only. The successful applicant will be based at the High Performance Sport Institution in Singapore - but will be required to travel to Melbourne, Australia to commence the degree.

Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • meet the entrance requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy 
  • be a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident
  • the successful applicant must be able to travel to Melbourne Australia to commence the degree

In selecting the successful applicant, we prioritise applications from candidates who:

  • will be enrolled full-time and undertaking their research through La Trobe University and who can be based at the High Performance Sport Institution in Singapore
  • have completed a Master's by research or other significant body of research, such as an Honours research thesis or lead authorship of a peer-reviewed publication, assessed at a La Trobe Master's by research standard of 75 or above

The following are the desired criteria for the role:

  • sound understanding of female athlete physiology and health domains
  • experience in data analytics or data science
  • experience coding (eg. R or Python)
  • experience of interest in mixed-methods research and implementation science frameworks
  • worked collaboratively with athletes, coaches, and/or sport science practitioners in a high-performance environment
