Background

Scholarship code: IND-24010

This scholarship, established by La Trobe University in partnership with Football Victoria, will be awarded to an outstanding applicant who is interested in exploring the optimal monitoring and management of youth female football (soccer) players, while contributing to a high-performance organisation in an elite sport environment.

This PhD project aims to observe and challenge the current athlete monitoring systems needed to support the development of youth elite female soccer players. The research will take a holistic approach to how we can improve the monitoring, management, and development of promising young female football players through both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

The successful candidate will work across the La Trobe Sports Park and the Victorian State Football Centre (Home of the Matildas) located at the La Trobe Bundoora campus.

As an applicant you should have formal training in sport science and an interest in the female athlete and/or youth development. A high level of academic achievement is expected, including excellent research, analytical, project management, oral, and written communication skills. A demonstrated ability to disseminate research findings (e.g., peer-reviewed publications) is preferred.

  • a fee-relief scholarship for up to four years
