La Trobe East Asia Creative Talent Scholarship
Background
The scholarship offers a 50% reduction on annual tuition fees for international students, who will be studying an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program for the entire duration of their course.
Are you eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of and based in Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia or Cambodia
- Be applying for a program included in the list of eligible courses.
- Minimum academic requirements to be included in the initial assessment round:
- For undergraduate programs: minimum WAM of 80% and IELTS 7.0 overall and no band under 7.0
- For postgraduate programs: minimum WAM of 75% and IELTS 7.0 overall and no band under 7.0
- Commence studies at any of the La Trobe University Victorian Campuses in Semester 1 2025.
- Must obtain a full offer letter before applying for the scholarship. Exceptions must be approved by La Trobe; however, all students must have passed the Genuine Student assessment, including financial checks before they can be considered for this scholarship.
- The scholarship recipients must perform ambassadorial duties as assigned during their enrolment at La Trobe University.
Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:
- Academic Performance
- English Language Proficiency
- Extra Curriculum / Social Activities
- Video submission
- Assessment of content creation capabilities
Recipient obligations
- The scholarship cannot be deferred to 2026. If the recipient does not secure a student visa for 2025, the offer may be cancelled.
- Recipients must maintain full-time enrolment at a Victorian La Trobe University campus and show satisfactory academic progress.
- The scholarship recipients must complete content creation tasks as assigned during their enrolment at La Trobe University.
- The scholarship recipients must complete all the training provided by the La Trobe University Marketing Team.

How to apply
Applicants must apply via this form.
Your application must include:
- An unconditional offer to enrol in a course at one of La Trobe’s Victorian campuses commencing in Semester 1 (March) 2025.
- Up-to-date evidence of academic performance.
- Valid evidence of English language proficiency.
- Evidence of any extra curriculum / social activities / high achievement awards.
- Recent portfolio of content that showcases creativity and charisma with a focus on videography and editing. Please provide examples of social media posts (both images and video), samples of content where you were involved conceptualising an idea, a selection of videos demonstrating your ability to shoot and edit content (both raw footage and final cuts) and examples with a range of types of content e.g. educational, promotional or entertaining. Please outline and provide examples if you have experience using Adobe Premiere, Canva, Lightroom or similar.
- Submit a unique and original video clip, created by you, no longer than 3 minutes, in English, addressing the following question: ‘Why do you believe you are the ideal candidate for this scholarship?’.
- Shortlisted candidates from the initial assessment round will be invited during the scholarship selection week to participate in a content creation test. Detailed information about the test will be sent via email. To ensure you receive this important information, please confirm that your email address is accurate and up-to-date in your application.
