How is it paid?

This scholarship will be applied from the first semester as an upfront discount to annual tuition fees for the duration of the course. Recipients are required to meet all conditions (if applicable) outlined in the Letter of Offer and accept the offer by paying the reduced deposit to confirm the scholarship. In Sydney, this scholarship will be applied from the second semester as a discount to annual tuition fees for the duration of the course. Please note: Failure to meet condition(s) and pay the acceptance deposit on time may result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.

We also offer an alternative Artificial Intelligence scholarship which provides a 30% reduction in annual tuition fees for international students enrolled in AI-related courses if they don't meet the requirements for this scholarship.

Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
  • Not be a humanitarian or other permanent visa holder.
  • Be a full fee-paying student (non-sponsored).
  • Be applying for direct entry into one of the courses listed above. Other students are not eligible.
  • Commence their studies at any of the La Trobe University campuses in 2026 or 2027.
  • Meet the University's English language requirements and all other conditions stated on the Offer Letter.
  • Obtain an offer letter before selection for the scholarship. Exceptions must be approved by La Trobe University. All students must have passed Genuine Student assessment, including financial checks before they can be considered for this scholarship.
  • Complete the following application form in full: Summer /Term 6 2026 application form, 2027 scholarship application form.

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

  • Outstanding academic performance (minimum WAM* requirement 80)
  • English language proficiency
  • Written statement received in the application form. 

The final number of successful candidates will be determined through a thorough evaluation process and confirmed by La Trobe University.

*A WAM is an average mark that takes into account the credit point value of the subjects that you have completed. It is based on the actual mark of all subjects completed in your course at any given time.

Recipient obligations

  • The scholarship cannot be deferred to 2028. If the recipient is unable to secure a student visa for their intended intake, the scholarship offer may be revoked.
  • Recipients are required to maintain full-time enrolment at La Trobe University and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress throughout their studies.
  • Please refer to the Offer Letter for full terms and conditions.
  • Recipients will be required to participate in International Scholarship Program events during their studies in Australia.

How to apply

Please note that this scholarship will not be automatically considered.

Eligible applicants will need to submit an application for their desired course(s) and intake and be in receipt of an offer.

Students must prepare a maximum 250-word statement explaining "Beyond academic achievement, what specific difference do you hope to make in your field or community after completing your degree at La Trobe University?" and submit it in the application form.

Scholarship selection process After the application deadline, applicants will be ranked and shortlisted according to their WAM. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a final selection round and may be asked to provide further information, interview or video submission.
