Cricket Australia PhD Scholarship - Load, wellness, injury and performance
Background
This prestigious scholarship, established by La Trobe University in partnership with Cricket Australia, will be awarded to an outstanding applicant interested in how best to use sport and data science to manage the health, wellbeing and performance of professional cricketers.
The aim of the project is to use advanced analytics techniques to interrogate player data to identify relationships between measures of training and competition load and self-reported adaptive responses with player outcomes such as injury, illness and performance.
Applicants should have a strong background in data science and analysis (e.g., biostatistics, epidemiology, analytics, mathematics, programming). Qualifications and/or experience in sport and sport science are highly desirable, including the application of data science in sport. A high level of academic achievement is expected, including excellent research, analytical, project management, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to disseminate research findings (e.g., peer-reviewed publication) preferred.

Are you eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:
- a Masters by research degree in a relevant discipline completed within the last ten years assessed at a La Trobe Masters by research standard of 75 or above; or
- an Honours degree, Masters by coursework or ungraded Masters by research degree completed within the last ten years where you achieved a weighted average mark of 70 or above across any coursework subjects; AND any of the following assessed at a La Trobe Masters by research standard of 75 or above:
- a research thesis of approximately 15,000-20,000 words; or
- the degree includes a written research component comprising at least 3/8 of one year; or
- you are the lead author of a peer-reviewed publication or other research published within the last ten years.

- Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by mid-December 2019 for interview.
- The selected applicant will be required to apply formally for the scholarship and candidature in December and expected to commence in February 2020.
