Uni-Safe service
We are committed to providing a safe environment for all students and staff.
Through the UniSafe service, security officers are available to accompany students and staff after dark (6 pm – 6 am) by foot or vehicle:
- between campus buildings
- to campus car parks
- to on-campus student accommodation
- to local transport points (Melbourne Campus only).

Make your UniSafe booking in just a few taps and up to an hour in advance. Get real time updates on your booking, see exactly where the UniSafe vehicle is and rate your experience to help us improve our service.
Frequently asked questions
All students and staff who study or work at La Trobe University can use our UniSafe service.
The service is available at our Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo and Albury-Wodonga campuses.
The UniSafe service is available to use between 6 pm and 6 am, all year round including the Semester break and public holidays.
If using the UniSafe app at the Melbourne Campus, you can book the service up to an hour in advance (i.e. from 5 pm). Booking times are available in 15-minute increments e.g. 18:00, 18:15, 18:30.
Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus
In the UniSafe app, pick ups and drop offs are available at designated locations, including the following nearby public transport points:
- Reservoir Train Station (Mernda Line)
- Macleod Train Station (Hurstbridge Line)

Albury-Wodonga and Bendigo Campuses
You can request to be picked-up and dropped-off anywhere on campus.
Security officers typically take 5 to 15 minutes to arrive. During busy periods, or if there is an incident on the campus, wait times may take 15 to 30 minutes.
If you make your booking via the UniSafe app (Melbourne Campus only) you can get real-time updates on your booking including how far away the UniSafe vehicle is.
To request a location at the Melbourne Campus that is not listed in the UniSafe app, please call Security on (03) 9479 2222 to make a booking.
Simply download the UniSafe app on the App Store or Google Play Store and create an account with your existing La Trobe student/staff login details.

Once you've downloaded the app and created your profile, you can make a booking in just a few taps:
- Select your pick up location (the app will pre-fill this based on the default location listed in your profile. Simply change locations if you need to).
- Choose your drop off point (the app will pre-fill this based on the default location listed in your profile. Simply change locations if you need to).
- Select a pick-up time and date (bookings are available between 6 pm and 6 am and can be made up to an hour in advance).
- Confirm how many passengers are to be picked up.
- Add any pick-up notes (optional).
- Select ‘Request pick up’.
