Head of School's welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute (ONJCRI), affiliated with La Trobe University as the School of Cancer Medicine.
As a School that hosts students who are passionate about advancing our understanding of cancer and conducting research that can translate into clinical solutions, we offer high-quality opportunities to students who join our ranks.
Whether your interest lies in developing novel immunotherapies and precision medicines, understanding treatment resistance, influencing cellular signalling pathways, or becoming skilled in techniques such as bioinformatics, our School offers prospective cancer researchers exciting avenues to develop their skills.
ONJCRI is based in a hospital, with patients only metres away from laboratory benches. The access to patients and clinicians allows our students to define patient-focused questions for their work. This is a real bedside-to-bench-to-bedside story.
Our size allows our institute to be agile in our research and gives students the opportunity to gain a variety of enriching experiences, including working with cutting edge technologies such as advanced imaging techniques, exposure to early-phase trials and collaborating with clinicians who are passionate about medical research.
We are committed to supporting every student in our laboratories as they prepare to take the next exciting step in becoming a medical researcher.
Thank you for your interest in the School of Cancer Medicine. I welcome you to explore our website and invite you to stay connected with us on LinkedIn, Bluesky or via our newsletter.
