La Trobe announces senior appointments

La Trobe’s senior leadership team has two new faces, with the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce naming Professor Joanna Barbousas as Dean and Head of the School of Education and Professor Parshia Lee-Stecum as the College’s Associate Provost (Learning and Teaching).

Professor Barbousas had been serving as Acting Head of School and is President of the Victorian Council of Deans of Education. Professor Lee-Stecum joins La Trobe from the University of Melbourne where he has held a series of senior leadership roles in the Faculty of Arts.

Provost of La Trobe’s College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce, Professor Simon Evans, said the two new appointments will bring a wealth of expertise and new ideas to the positions.

“Professor Barbousas takes up her Deanship at an exciting time for the School of Education as it celebrates a jump of 160 places in the Times Higher Education rankings in 2019 and rolls out innovative programs for aspiring teachers,

“Professor Lee-Stecum is an established leader in the field of learning and teaching, and we’re incredibly pleased to have him on board to steer the future of learning and teaching here in the College,” Professor Evans said.
