The extension of the partnership will see Polaris, the inner north’s largest master-planned precinct, continue its sponsorship of Team La Trobe and La Trobe’s affiliated sports clubs for a further two years.
Additionally, the sponsorship will see Polaris continue to work with La Trobe Sport to enable more students, staff and the local community to get active through a range of Team La Trobe community events and active recreation programs.
La Trobe Sport Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Operations, Nick Lambert, said the Polaris and La Trobe Sport partnership had provided a significant boost for community sport in Melbourne’s northern corridor since the partnership’s formation in 2019.
“The long-term Polaris sponsorship enables more students, staff and local community members based in Melbourne’s north to participate in sport and active recreation,” Lambert said.
“La Trobe Sport clubs are committed to providing a welcoming environment for all to participate in sport at a low cost. Without the support of Polaris creating this sense of community, this would be far more difficult.”
La Trobe University Football Club is one of four sports clubs affiliated with La Trobe Sport who are supported by Polaris, along with the La Trobe University Soccer Club, La Trobe University Volleyball Club and La Trobe University Badminton Club.
Acknowledging the challenges experienced by all community sport clubs in recent years, La Trobe University Football Club President, Andrew Sutherland, said the ongoing support of Polaris had been crucial to the survival of La Trobe’s affiliated sports clubs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Without the support of Polaris over the last five years, the La Trobe University Football Club would simply not exist today,” Sutherland said.
“We are truly grateful for the ongoing commitment of Polaris to ourselves and to other amateur clubs within the La Trobe Sport community."
For over 35 years, Dealcorp has held a revolutionary presence in developing landmark locations, including Polaris 3083, across Melbourne’s urban landscape. The company has pioneered modern living for multi-residential projects and award-winning master-planned communities for thousands of residents.
DealCorp Marketing Manager, Laurelle Kobritz, said the company was ‘thrilled’ to continue its support of Team La Trobe and La Trobe Sport for the next two years.
“La Trobe is an integral part of Melbourne’s inner northern community and we are proud to be involved with this institution,” Kobritz said.
“Being La Trobe’s closest retail neighbour, Polaris 3083 acts as an extension to the staff and students of La Trobe. With over 35 shops, a supermarket, chemist and café’s, restaurants and more amenities, Polaris 3083 is a growing modern hub for the inner northern community.”
