Waste reduction and organic recycling

We're diverting organic waste from landfill at our campuses.

We were the first Australian university to adopt the SoilFood system.

Our on-site composting unit at our Melbourne and Bendigo campuses diverts all organic waste from landfills and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%. The unit processes 100 kg of organic waste into 20 kg of nutrient-rich fertiliser, which is used on campus gardens and grounds.
