In collaboration with the Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) and Eating Disorders Victoria, the Bouverie Centre presents its learning and development approach in relational systemic family work, with reference to the Victorian Eating Disorders Strategy 2024-2031 and the Victorian Department of Health's Our workforce, our future capability framework for the Victorian mental health and wellbeing workforce. This forum will include:
- An overview of the Bouverie Centre approach to integrated clinical practice-research-implementation methodology for systemic practice and family work with serious mental health problems.
- Presentation and dialogue on the alignment between the "Bouverie model" and Victorian Eating Disorders Strategy.
- Discussion about the application and value of Bouverie's Systemic Family Therapy, Single Session Thinking, and systemic trauma informed/focused practices in the eating disorders space.
Relevant audience
- All allied and mental health professionals working with families within the eating disorders field across Victoria.
- Broader connections for national engagement with the Bouverie Centre's professional development and implementation program are also welcome.
Presenter: Martin Pradel
Martin is the Head of Family Services at the Bouverie Centre, La Trobe University, and a qualified clinical social worker and family therapist.
Martin's clinical expertise includes two decades of work with eating disorders, including work at CEED, and the Royal Children's Hospital's Adolescent Medicine Specialist Eating Disorders Service. His other areas of experience include child and youth mental health, sexual abuse trauma, and refugee health.
