Type of Event:
Forum/symposium

Conceptions of nature differ significantly across cultures, geographies and time periods. Hosted by La Trobe’s Centre for the Study of the Inland, this symposium will explore the origins and implications of these differences.
We will consider how conceptions of nature have shaped the ways in which the more-than-human world has been related to, cared for, exploited, weaponised, and imagined. We bring together scholars working on North America, Asia and Australia to explore how understanding the origins and consequences of these conceptions contributed to environmental crises and may provide insights for different futures.

Presenters: Nick Bond, Camden Elliot, Guy Fitzhardinge, Danielle Flakelar, Ruth Gamble, Tom
Griffiths, Lesley Head, Katie Holmes, Lilian Pearce and Divya Rama Gopalakrishnan.
We would be honoured to have you join us, with tickets available through Eventbrite here until the 24th April.
