Commissioner Sue-Anne Hunter is a respected Wurundjeri and Ngurai Illum Wurrung woman and nationally recognised leader in child and family services. She is Australia's inaugural National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People, following her role as Deputy Chair and Commissioner of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, Australia's first formal First Peoples truth-telling inquiry. A qualified social worker, Commissioner Hunter has more than two decades of experience responding to developmental, intergenerational and community trauma, and is widely recognised for advancing rights-based, culturally safe approaches that support healing and self-determination.
Commissioner Hunter will share her experiences championing the rights and wellbeing of First Nations children and young people, and the importance of truth-telling, healing and community-led solutions in creating lasting systemic change.
