Professional background/experience

Carol McKinstry is a Professor of Occupational Therapy and Deputy Dean of the Rural Health School.  She has a Bachelor of Applied Science (OT), a Masters of Health Sc, a PhD and a Grad Cert in Higher Education.  She is a Senior Fellow with the HEA and a graduate of the AICD. She has worked as a clinician and senior manager in health before becoming an academic. She has been Head of the Rural Allied Health Department and until recently was Associate Dean Learning and Teaching.  She is a researcher within the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research and her research focuses on workforce. She was President of Occupational Therapy Australia (2019-2023), past Board Chair and Director of Rochester and Elmore District Health Service (2017-2023) and is a current Board Director of Bendigo Health.  In 2023 she became elected as Chair of Academic Board and will commence this position in February 2024.
