Professional background/experience
Dr Christopher Adda is Director, Research Infrastructure at La Trobe University, where he provides strategic leadership of the University’s research platforms, major equipment investments and digital research enablement. In this role, he leads a multidisciplinary team and oversees significant operational and capital budgets, working closely with academic units, central divisions and external partners to deliver high-quality, safe and compliant research services.
A La Trobe alumnus (BSc (Hons), PhD in Biochemistry), Christopher has more than two decades of experience at the University across academic and professional domains. He has served as a researcher and teacher, before transitioning into research administration and capability development following postgraduate studies in innovation management.
His professional experience spans research governance, infrastructure strategy and institutional operations, with particular expertise in financial stewardship, risk and compliance, procurement, workforce planning and evidence-based investment decision-making. He has led complex initiatives that support the sustainability and performance of shared research infrastructure and enhance the University’s research capability.
Christopher brings deep institutional knowledge and a practical understanding of how strategy, policy and investment decisions translate into day-to-day outcomes for staff and students. His work supports the alignment of infrastructure and services with La Trobe’s strategic priorities, strengthening research excellence, collaboration and long-term organisational sustainability.
