Rainbow Health Australia

Rainbow Health Australia (previously known as Gay & Lesbian Health Victoria) is a program that supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) health and wellbeing.

The support comes through research and knowledge translation, training, resources, policy advice and service accreditation through the Rainbow Tick.

Located within the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) at La Trobe University, Rainbow Health Australia is funded by the Victorian government. We work closely with researchers at ARCSHS on cutting edge research into LGBTIQ health and wellbeing. This includes research development, translation and impact.

An integral part of our work is to build partnerships with government, researchers, community, organisations and service providers to create equity and inclusion.

We provide:

  • Training – dynamic, evidence-based LGBTIQ training across the health, human services and community sectors.
  • Programs – with a focus on LGBTI ageing and aged care, LGBTIQA+ young people, and equipping family violence services to provide safe and inclusive support to LGBTIQ people experiencing intimate partner and family violence.
  • Resources – evidence-based resources and reports.
  • Research & Policy – research and policy development in collaboration with ARCSHS and other academic institutions, LGBTIQ and mainstream organisations, and government.

Our work includes:

We have collated a library of research and resources to help individuals and organisations to develop services that are inclusive for LGBTIQ staff and clients.’
