Events and culture

Life at La Trobe isn’t simply about attending classes and hitting the books — there’s a lively culture lying in wait whenever you decide to come up for air.

Getting involved is one of the best ways to live a well-balanced student life and become as a well-rounded, worldly graduate.

Once you’ve enrolled, make sure you take part in our orientation program — it’s the best and quickest way to learn the ropes and get involved in life at La Trobe.

Our Vibrant and Diverse Campus

La Trobe is a place that’s brimming with opportunities to explore your interests, socialise with like-minded people, or simply blow off some steam with your classmates.

Attend theatre shows, film screenings, visual art exhibitions and live music gigs. Indulge your tastebuds, or simply relax with friends and a drink at a café or bar. Broaden your mind by attending one of the regular public lectures and debates.

To make sure you know about upcoming events and other happenings, visit My LaTrobe or subscribe to our social media channels.

Clubs, Student Theatre & Film and Sports

There are plenty of student clubs and societies catering for interests ranging from gaming and theatre, to religion and politics. Clubs are a great way to meet new people, connect with your community and get involved in events and activities.

If you don’t find something you like, you can always start a club of your own!

Make sure you check out all our fantastic clubs here!

Student Organisations

The La Trobe Student Union and La Trobe Student Association host many social and cultural events, and the Student Union also run Rabelais — the student magazine produced by students, for students since 1967.
