Medical and Health remains La Trobe’s highest-ranked subject area, placing among the world’s top 175 universities.
Social Sciences also continued to climb the rankings, delivering the subject’s best result since 2018, placing in the top 250.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Theo Farrell said the results were testament to the talent and commitment of La Trobe staff.
“These results show La Trobe punches well above its weight in both the quality of its educational offerings and its high-impact, globally recognised research, particularly in health innovation,” Professor Farrell said.
“This outstanding result is a huge achievement that reflects the incredible work of the University community, especially in building academic excellence and job-ready graduates.”
La Trobe increased rankings for Business and Economics, placing in the world’s top 250, and Computer Science (top 300).
Law and Life Science continued strong performances, ranking in the top 200 globally. Law placed third in Victoria.
The results cap off a strong year for the University’s global rankings.
La Trobe, which is in the top 1 per cent of some 50,000 universities worldwide*, was recognised as the most improved university in the Oceania region in the past five years in the QS World University Rankings, posting its best-ever result in 2025.
