The University offers a unique range of career-focused initiatives through its Career Ready program.
Employers rated La Trobe second among all Victorian universities for producing graduates with high levels of foundation skills essential to the workplace – with the University earning a score of 94.4 per cent. Foundation skills include literacy and numeracy, the ability to investigate and integrate knowledge, and communication skills.
Also released today, the latest Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) placed the University third in Victoria for overall employment. The survey showed 87.8 per cent of La Trobe’s 2018 undergraduate students secured work within four months of completing their course.
La Trobe Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Kerri-Lee Krause said these latest results were an affirmation of La Trobe’s commitment to ensuring graduates are career ready.
“We want our students to stand out from the crowd and excel at work,” Professor Krause said.
“These new results are a clear indication that our programs are giving students the core skills and aptitudes employers want and need.
“Not only are our students quickly entering the workforce, employers are impressed with their ability to adapt and thrive."
“It’s part of our commitment to not only ensure graduates have the technical skills to hit the ground running, but that they also have the broader strengths of passion, empathy, curiosity and resilience.
“These are the attributes that employers tell us are vital in a modern workforce, and are embedded in our Career Ready program,” she said.
