Wings for Life World Run returns to La Trobe in 2026

La Trobe University’s Sport Park has once again been announced as the Melbourne host site for the Wings for Life World Run.

Now heading into its third year at the Sports Park precinct, the 2026 edition of the event will this year take place on Sunday 10 May commencing at 9:00pm (AEST).

The Wings for Life World Run is a global charity fundraising fun run event where 100% of the money raised goes towards spinal cord injury research. It is a truly unique event for both runners and wheelchair participants, with 528 global events being held across the world simultaneously. Competitors around the globe will begin at the exact same time (11:00am UTC) and will race side by side to keep ahead of the Virtual Catcher Car. The Virtual Catcher Car takes off 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h, and instead of a reaching a set finish line, will steadily increase its speed until the last athletes have been caught.

In 2026, we are aiming to have our largest Team La Trobe contingent yet turn out and take part in the event on our home campus. To sign up for the Wings for Life World Run at the Melbourne campus, please register here.

Following the registration process, make sure you join the Team La Trobe squad via the Wings For Life World Run app. We can’t wait to see a sea of red and black colours representing the university with pride!

The event hub will be located at the La Trobe Sports Stadium. Please note that Sports Drive from Car Park 2A to the Home of the Matildas (HoTM) will be closed. The HoTM will still be accessible on foot.

If you have any questions about the road closure or accessing the campus during the Wings for Life World Run, please contact David Chadzynski via email D.Chadzynski@latrobe.edu.au.
