This month, we are pleased to welcome Professor Elizabeth Miller, a global leader in gender-based violence prevention research, to La Trobe as part of a prestigious International Visitor Scheme fellowship.
An Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics, Public Health, and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Professor Miller has more than 25 years of experience in research and clinical practice.
She serves as Deputy Director (strategic planning and coordination) of the Integrated Center for Women's Health at the National Center for Child Health and Development, Tokyo, Japan.
During her visit, Professor Miller will collaborate with researchers, students and partners across the University, strengthening La Trobe’s work in this critical area.
The visit will be led by the Judith Lumley Centre in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Reducing Gender-based Violence (ReGEN) research group, with cross-disciplinary collaboration from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, including Professor Bec Strating, Professor Bianca Brijnath and Dr Erica Millar.
Professor Miller’s visit was made possible by a grant application that was led by Desireé LaGrappe, Professor Kristina Edvardsson and Professor Leesa Hooker. The fellowship is further supported by La Trobe Asia and SPHERE, the NHMRC-funded Centre of Research Excellence in Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health in Primary Care.
