The School of Education is pleased to welcome internationally recognised educator and researcher, Haili Hughes, who has been appointed as Associate Professor of Educational Change and Impact.
Associate Professor Hughes joins La Trobe from the United Kingdom, where she is widely recognised for her work bridging evidence, practice and system-level change.
She brings extensive experience leading professional learning across multi-academy trusts, universities and government-funded programs, including the Early Career Framework and National Professional Qualifications.
Professor Joanna Barbousas, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education, Impact and Innovation, and Dean of the School of Education, said the appointment reflects the School’s commitment to developing a globally connected, impact-driven academic workforce.
“In her new role, Associate Professor Hughes will help strengthen the translation of research into classroom practice through our initial teacher education programs, professional learning partnerships and school-based initiatives.”
“She will also contribute to teaching, leadership and practice-based research across the School, including our Master of Teaching course, and work closely with colleagues across SOLAR, SOME and the emerging Education Practice Lab.”
In addition to this role, Associate Professor Hughes will commence as Associate Dean, Education Partnerships and Professional Practice in September 2026.
