An award-winning leader in digital technology and transformation, Professor Desai’s work focuses on translating advances in sensing, micro-nano electronics, artificial intelligence and connected technologies into practical solutions to complex real-world challenges.
As Director of La Trobe’s Centre for Technology Infusion, he has championed an industry-engaged approach to research and built large-scale collaborations with industry, government and academia.
His international research leadership includes founding and leading the Asian Smart Cities Research and Innovation Network, which now connects more than 300 researchers across La Trobe and leading Indian universities, with over 100 approved joint PhD projects focused on research with strong potential for adoption and impact.
“I look forward to continuing to pursue ambitious research, build strong collaborations and translate new ideas and technologies into real-world impact, contributing to La Trobe’s research ambitions in Australia and internationally,” he says.
