Online Psychoeducation Programs for Separated Litigating Parents: A Scoping Review of Domestic and Family Violence Content.

Published by Family Transitions

This scoping review examines how domestic and family violence (DFV) is addressed within online psychoeducation programs for separated parents involved in family law litigation.

Key Findings

  1. Inconsistent integration of DFV content
Programs varied widely in how they addressed domestic and family violence, with some conflating DFV with conflict or offering only limited DFV content.
  2. Gaps in safety‑focused approaches
Many programs lacked sufficiently nuanced content and did not consistently prioritise risk differentiation or measure survivor safety.
  3. Need for stronger evidence‑based and tailored program design
The review highlights the importance of embedding clear, evidence‑informed co-designed DFV content that reflects the complex realities of separated and litigating families.
