This week, we were honoured to dedicate the La Trobe Law School’s Moot Court in memory of Emeritus Professor Roger N. Douglas, recognising his lifelong commitment to legal education.
The dedication follows a significant gift from Roger’s widow, Robin Burns, to refurbish the Moot Court.
“When the School began mooting, Roger was involved with mentoring the students who took part in national and international competitions. He considered it an important part of their education and professional training,” Robin said.
“That it will be named in Roger’s honour delights me.”
Professor Lorne Neudorf, Dean of La Trobe Law School, said Roger’s impact on La Trobe extended well beyond the classroom.
“Roger shaped generations of lawyers at La Trobe over many decades,” he said.
“La Trobe law students have an outstanding record of success in mooting and advocacy competitions, nationally and internationally. This gift will support our mooting program, refurbish the Moot Court and will help future La Trobe students develop practical advocacy skills and participate in opportunities at both a national and international level.”
