Students can experience the action at home games at La Trobe Sports Park Stadium or join fellow Eagles supporters at selected away-game watch parties at the Club House in the Agora.
Two exciting squads ready to compete
Team La Trobe’s Women’s team will enter the new season with arguably the strongest squad assembled in the program’s history.
Nine players return from last season alongside seven exciting additions, with the new-look squad bringing experience from the WNBL, NBL1 and American college basketball systems.
Among the players to watch is Holly Griffiths, who returns to Melbourne after spending three years competing in NCAA Division I basketball in the United States. At 6’4”, Griffiths will bring size, experience and a major presence at both ends of the court.
Jess Smith is another player that is set to take the UBL competition by storm. The Bendigo Braves forward brings NBL1 South experience to the Eagles and has demonstrated her ability to provide scoring and outside shooting at that level. Smith’s experience in a high-performance basketball environment will add further depth to an already talented squad.
The team will again be led by two-time UBL championship coach Cam Burt, who has played an important role in building the culture and sustained success of the Team La Trobe Women’s program.
As for the Team La Trobe Men’s team, it will be a very different-looking Eagles outfit taking the court this season.
Just four players return from the 2025 campaign, with the squad undergoing a significant overhaul ahead of the opening round.
The new group includes several recruits with NBL1 experience, including players from the Bendigo Braves program, as Team La Trobe looks to add fresh energy, size and athleticism to its roster.
Returning captain Ethan Du Plooy will provide important leadership, while 7’2” recruit Brodie Johnson shapes as one of the competition’s most intriguing new additions.
The Men will be coached by Randy Shanklin, who returns to lead a group determined to create its own identity and re-establish Team La Trobe as a championship contender.
Join us for a home game at ‘The Nest’
Team La Trobe’s home games will be played at La Trobe Sports Park Stadium, giving students the chance to watch high-quality basketball and support their fellow students on the national stage.
The highlight of the home fixture will be the twilight game against the University of Tasmania on Friday 18 September.
The Men’s game will tip off at 5:00 pm, followed by the Women’s game at 7:00 pm.
The event will feature Red Bull activations, entertainment and a special half-time contest, free food and much more, making it one of the biggest Team La Trobe game days of the year.

Watch the away games from the Agora
Students can also follow the Eagles on the road at selected away game watch parties at the Club House in the Agora (Melbourne Campus).
The watch parties will bring Eagles supporters together throughout the season and build momentum towards the Twilight Game on 18 September.
