New Single Session Family Consultation Practice Extension Modules

Single Session Family Consultation (SSFC) is built for real‑world practice—where time is limited, relationships are complex, and families matter. Building on the SSFC Foundations, we are pleased to launch a new suite of practice development modules designed to deepen and extend practitioners’ confidence and the impact of their work across various settings.

These self‑paced online modules support practitioners to take SSFC principles further—strengthening family‑inclusive work, enhancing relational safety, and responding to common challenges that arise when working with families in complex systems, in a single session frame.

SSFC: Youth Services

Support young people’s communication with their families.

Effective work with young people in complex, time limited youth service contexts takes skill, especially when in engaging families, caregivers, and chosen family. Practitioners can be uncertain about how to propose family involvement, manage confidentiality, respond to heightened emotion, and maintain safety.

SSFC: Information Sharing with Families

Turn complex mental health information into a shared understanding.

Sharing information with families is a core part of effective mental health care - yet practitioners are concerned about how to explain complex issues clearly, manage differing perspectives, and respond to common questions while maintaining relational safety. This module will add critical awareness and skills to your practice toolkit.

SSFC: Collaborative Conversations

Turning family stories into pathways for change.

Practitioners sometimes leave family consultations feeling unsure about their impact—especially when emotions run high, roles become unclear, or conversations become stuck in conflict. This module is designed to help you co-construct conversations with families that empower, and clearly map toward meaningful change.
