La Trobe University's Greek Studies program has received a significant boost thanks to the generosity of Peter and Mary Mitrakas, whose support has enabled the reinstatement of the advanced major in Greek Studies.
This month, the University celebrated their contribution at a special morning tea, recognising the couple's generosity and the longstanding commitment of Melbourne's Greek community to Greek language education.
The event brought together University staff and students, and representatives from the Pharos Alliance, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria, and the Greek Consulate in Melbourne.
Peter and Mary were welcomed by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Theo Farrell and Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Professor Matthew McGuire.
