La Trobe University’s Professor Caixian Tang, from the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment, was recognised for the second year in a row, with over 16,000 citations.
Professor Tang was also published in a total of 343 publications, highlighting his research into areas such as plant-soil interactions, rhizosphere chemistry and nutrient acquisition, and soil management.
He leads the Soil-Plant Interactions Group based at the Centre for AgriBioscience (AgriBio) on La Trobe’s Bundoora Campus.
“I am honoured to be named in the highly cited researchers list, it is fantastic to see so many cite my work across the world,” Professor Tang said.
“My work focuses on developing innovative on-farm solutions, better crop growth and sustainable management of soil. I am happy to see my peers are able to reference the insights I have shared to further their own projects to create a more sustainable world.”
La Trobe’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation Professor Chris Pakes congratulated Professor Tang on his achievement.

Clarivate is an internationally recognised analytics company. It’s prestigious Highly Cited Researchers list recognises scholars who demonstrate significant and broad influence in their field of research.
Each researcher selected has authored multiple highly cited papers which rank in the top 1 per cent by citations for their fields and publication year in the Web of Science Core Collection over the past 11 years.
