Applications are now open for La Trobe University’s inaugural Wurruwila Wutja Research Fellowship.
The fellowship is one of our first key announcements stemming from the refreshed Research & Innovation 2030 Strategy and will support emerging Indigenous researchers to build their research careers at La Trobe.
Director of the Gabra Biik Wurruwila Wutja Indigenous Research Centre, Professor Julie Andrews, said the fellowship was aimed at enhancing Indigenous leadership, self-determination, and knowledge within the academic community.
“This fellowship supports the development and growth of outstanding Indigenous scholars in their research endeavours aligned with university strategy,” Professor Andrews said.
“Consultation with community and support for Indigenous lead knowledge is core to the University and highlighted throughout our Indigenous Strategy, the Research & Innovation 2030 Strategy, and our Indigenous Research Framework.”
The Wurruwila Wutja Fellow will be a research-only academic who will undertake research within their relevant field as an individual or as part of a team researchers while being provided with opportunities to develop their research expertise.
The fellowship is a multi-year appointment, up to three years, and open to Indigenous researchers with a PhD or equivalent research experience who demonstrate a strong research track record and commitment to Indigenous community.
