Opening Saturdays 10am-3pm from April
Members of the local community, along with La Trobe staff and students will now be able to explore the Sanctuary’s native flora and fauna seven days a week between 10am and 3pm. The Indigenous plant nursery and gift shop will also be open during these times, providing visitors with the perfect opportunity to purchase locally made giftware, gardening products and plants.
The Nangak Tamboree eco corridor connects the University campus to the wider community and environment, providing a unique and valuable education experience for visitors in Melbourne's north. The 30-hectare Sanctuary connects with Gresswell Habitat Link and Gresswell Forest to our north, through La Trobe’s Bundoora campus to Darebin Creek in the south, providing habitat for indigenous species of flora and fauna that existed in the area prior to European settlement.
Visitors can now make the most of all the Sanctuary has to offer any day of the week. The expanded opening hours will allow more people to access the facilities as a day trip or as an outdoor weekend experience just outside the city.
The updated opening hours will start from April and run as a three-month trial until the end of June.
