La Trobe Elite Athlete Program members begin 2025 in impressive fashion

It's been a big start to 2025 for members of the La Trobe Elite Athlete Program (LEAP).

The LEAP program is proudly supported by TechnologyOne, and helps to identify, promote and support the needs of elite athletes studying at university by providing them with assistance and support to successfully combine their academic and sporting pursuits . The value of combining sport and higher education is well recognised across the university and sporting sectors, which is why La Trobe is committed to helping elite athletes undertaking study with the University.

  • Benjamin Cosgriff (Water Skiing, Bachelor of Physiotherapy): Represented La Trobe and Australia at the FISU World Water Sport Games with Australia coming third overall.
  • Natasha Hollins (Dodgeball, Bachelor of Criminology): Represented Australia at the 2024 East Asian Championships, winning a silver medal in the mixed category and a bronze medal in the women's category.
  • Emily Davis-Tope (Ice Hockey, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy): To represent Australia at the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championships. Domestically, she won MVP for the mixed and women's division.
  • Sam Barlett (Ice Hockey, Bachelor of Biomedicine): Represented Australia at the World U20 Championships.
  • Armaan Dawood (Futsal, Bachelor of Physiotherapy – Honours): Represented Victoria at the National Futsal Championships, scoring two goals in the finals series.
  • Olivia Cartwright (Lawn Bowls, Bachelor of Education): Accumulated titles for the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Region (BCG) where she won the Pairs title and the BCG Triples title.
  • Caitlin Laird (Softball, Bachelor of Arts): Moved to Amsterdam to play a season in the Netherlands First Class Softball League for Amsterdam Pirates.
  • Amy Bachmann (Equestrian, Bachelor of Dental Science - Honours) and Charlotte Sexton (Netball, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy) : Won awards at the Bendigo Sports Star Gala Night.
  • Lucia (Beach Volleyball, Master's of Physiotherapy Practice) and Evie La Terra (Beach Volleyball,Bachelor of Nursing) : Top 10 finish in the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour.
  • Eva Wilson (Athletics, Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science): Gold Medalist U20 Hammer Throw at the Victorian Athletics Championships, qualifying for the Australian National Athletics Championships in April.
  • James Calabro (Water Polo, Bachelor of Physiotherapy – Honours) : Representing the Victorian Water Polo Country team at Nationals in Queensland.
  • Marcy Forge (Curling, Bachelor of Business): Representing Australia at the Open Under-25 Mixed Doubles Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
  • Vivian Mauderer (Canoe Polo & Rowing, Bachelor of Dental Science - Honours): Gold in the WK4 500m and WK4 200m at the 2025 Victorian Sprint Championships.
