International business sprints

This year, La Trobe Business School delivered a series of International Business Sprints, bringing together Chinese business students at Jiangsu University of Science & Technology in September and Dalian Jiaotong University in November.

The events were supported by the Victorian Government’s Yes to International Students Fund (YISF), an initiative that supports universities to deliver more offshore education and grow innovative international partnerships.

Led by Professor Alex Maritz and Dr Loic Li from La Trobe Business School, students worked on developing key entrepreneurial skills, from recognising opportunities and building ventures to making strategic decisions and delivering effective pitches.

Working in teams, students refined their ideas, explored the role of co-founders and stakeholders, and presented their concepts in a final pitch session, gaining hands-on experience in innovation and collaboration.

The Dalian Jiaotong University sprint also introduced a new collaboration with Northlink, integrating a real-world business challenge and student-voice insights from Dalian transfer students currently studying in Melbourne.

This initiative is part of La Trobe’s commitment to strengthening Victoria’s global education relationships and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs through meaningful international engagement.

In 2026, La Trobe Business School will continue to strengthen international partnerships with a series of YISF funded study tours at the Bundoora and Bendigo campuses with partners PSB Academy (Singapore), Hanoi University, NEU University (Vietnam), and the Offshore Local Staff Professional Development program at Siam University (Thailand).
