Academics honoured at Mental Health Service Awards

Congratulations to La Trobe researchers from the Care Economy Research Institute who have been recognised for their vital contributions to addressing mental health issues at the 2025 Mental Health Service Awards.

Professor Lisa Brophy was awarded the Exceptional Contribution Award and Dr Tessa-May Zirnsak received the Early Career Research Award. Together,  Professor Brophy, Dr Zirnsak and team were also named the Conference Conveners Choice Winner.

Eighteen awards across fifteen categories were presented by Mental Health Service Awards ambassador, Kim Borrowdale, and founder, Roger Gurr AM, to individuals and organisations at the ‘Envisioning 2050: Towards a Better Mental Health System’ Conference awards ceremony in Brisbane, hosted by the Mental Health Service Learning Network and emceed by Natasha Mitchell.

The Mental Health Service Awards acknowledge and promote best-practice in the delivery of mental health services; innovation, consumer-focus and lived-experience leadership; excellence in mental health research; as well as media and journalism that helps decrease the stigma which can still be associated with mental distress.
