The 2025 edition of the Division 1 & 2 UniSport Nationals held from 27 September to 3 October saw Team La Trobe send a squad of 132 student athletes to the Gold Coast to compete in 11 different sports.
The 2025 UniSport Australia Nationals also marked the welcome return of a number of La Trobe sporting teams who did not compete in 2024, including AFL Nines, Basketball Women, Beach Volleyball, Football Women, and Netball Women.
UniSport Nationals provides an opportunity for students at the 42 member universities from across Australia to compete head-to-head in the only national standard university sporting competition. The Uni Nationals Championship is comprised of the annual flagship event, the Division 1 & 2 UniSport Nationals, and several standalone national championships for various sports throughout the year.
Headlining Team La Trobe’s results was the Division 2 gold medal won in Women’s Netball, in which Team La Trobe defeated University of Canberra 52-35 in an exceptional performance in the grand final.
Across a range of Taekwondo events held in the opening days of the UniSport Nationals, Team La Trobe recorded a strong haul of five individual gold, three individual silver and four individual bronze medals.
Other strong La Trobe performances across the week included fourth place Division 1 finishes in Women’s Beach Volleyball, Women’s Basketball and Men’s Football, while La Trobe Elite Athlete Program (LEAP) member Cody Cuthbert finished within the top 10 from 47 competitors in the Men’s Golf competition.
