School of Nursing and Midwifery celebrates student prize winners

Nursing and Midwifery students recognised at annual School Awards

Congratulations to the Nursing and Midwifery students who were recently recognised at the School Awards.

Professor Lisa McKenna, Dean of La Trobe's School of Nursing and Midwifery, presented the awards at a morning tea on 19 April 2024.

“Each of these students has demonstrated a commitment to making a difference to the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. We are so pleased to be able to celebrate and reward their achievements through these awards.”

Nursing student, Julia Van Vuuren, was awarded the Caroline Pippett Memorial Award, which recognises a final-year student who has demonstrated a loving and caring attitude towards their patients.

Midwifery student Elizabeth Farley was awarded the CleftPALS Victoria Midwifery Award, which is awarded to a third-year student who has made an outstanding contribution in the neonatal setting during their clinical placement.

Brianna Halyburton received the Royal Women's Hospital Award for achieving the highest mark in her final Midwifery subject.

In addition to the three major award winners, ten students received Dean’s Scholar Awards which recognise outstanding academic achievement.

Professor McKenna congratulated the winners and thanked the sponsors for their generous donations.

“Congratulations to all our award winners, this recognition is a testament to your hard work and dedication. We take great pride in celebrating your achievements and hope you do too.”

“I’d also like to thank our donors who give so generously to help us recognise and reward the students for their efforts.”
