Bridging the skills gap for industry

The La Trobe University Employability Expo held in Bendigo on Tuesday 26 March, was a resounding success.

The La Trobe Bendigo campus provided an inviting backdrop for attendees to network, and it was a day filled with opportunities for industry to connect with our engaged student talent.

The expo buzzed with energy as more than 30 industry exhibitors set up their stalls – including Deloitte, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Bendigo Health, Department of Defence, Medibank, Thales, and Hellers Australia, – representing fields such as engineering, health, business/accounting, IT, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, disability support, and defence contracting.

The personal touch and genuine interest from industry representatives during face-to-face conversations left a lasting impression on La Trobe students, each an up-and-coming professional eager to network and decide the next move post-graduation.

This event was also an opportunity to explore industry needs, and for industry to identify pathways for further collaboration with the University in order to establish a solid talent pipeline.

Employability Expos serve as vibrant platforms for celebrating talent, fostering collaboration, and seizing opportunities. By connecting employers with motivated students in Bendigo, La Trobe reaffirms its unwavering commitment to a robust regional presence and its role in supporting local workforce development and innovation.
