Sports Environment Alliance is not-for-profit organisation with a purpose to lead, educate and empower the sport ecosystem to take action for and influence a sustainable and regenerative future.
The organisation works to support its affiliated members' journeys in protecting the places where we play for generations to come through education, linking them to the wider sport and planet community and celebrating their good planet leadership and actions.
La Trobe Sport Senior Operations Coordinator Jai Haddock explained that by joining SEA, La Trobe Sport is excited by the prospect of engaging with environmental leaders in the sporting industry to inspire change within their own operations to ensure for the long-term viability of sport at La Trobe.
“La Trobe Sport is committed to ensuring minimal impact on the environment," he said.
"The La Trobe Sports Stadium was awarded Australia’s first ‘6 Star Green Star Design and As Built v1.2 certified rating’ for a sports building by the Green Building Council Australia, recognising ‘World Leadership’ in sustainable building practice.
“In line with the La Trobe University Net Zero 2029 initiative, La Trobe Sport is committed to ensuring we minimise our impact on the environment.”
In welcoming La Trobe Sport to SEA, SEA CEO Jan Fitzgerald said that she is delighted to see that La Trobe Sport is inspired to be a part of a like-minded community with a common goal, driving towards positive change.
“Together, we can reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a better future for generations to come,” she said.
