Linda was selected for the scholarship – which supports women undertaking business studies – in recognition of her outstanding academic record.
It’s the next in a long line of achievements: Linda was also awarded the Victorian International Student of the Year Award in 2023 and the SuniTAFE International Student of the Year Award in 2022.
“As an international student, receiving these awards was an absolute highlight of my academic and personal journey in Australia,” she says.
Linda moved to regional Victoria from China in 2018. After spending some time working as a supervisor and administrator on a farm, she decided to pursue business studies. She initially completed an Advanced Diploma of Accounting at SuniTAFE in Mildura and later transitioned to a Bachelor of Accounting at La Trobe’s Bendigo campus.
“This pathway helped me build a solid foundation for advanced accounting studies while broadening my career prospects in finance, auditing and consulting,” she says.
“Studying at La Trobe’s Bendigo campus has been a rewarding experience, with easy access to
teachers who are always approachable and supportive.”
“The campus also provides excellent job opportunities, helping students gain practical experience and build professional networks. By leveraging these connections and practical learning opportunities, I hope to develop the skills needed to excel in my career.”
Her passion and dedication have already paid off, with Linda securing a full-time position as an accountant in Bendigo.
“I am already working in the industry as a financial accountant, and when I graduate I plan to further develop my career in areas such as financial management, auditing or consulting.”
“I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to dynamic organisations and continuously refine my knowledge of accounting. I also plan to undertake advanced studies such as the CPA and MBA.”
