Announcing the Pride in Prevention Evaluation Guide from Rainbow Health Australia

On August 22, Rainbow Health Australia launched the Pride in Prevention Evaluation Guide, the latest in its ground-breaking Pride in Prevention series on the primary prevention of LGBTIQ+ family violence.

On August 22, Rainbow Health Australia launched the latest in its ground-breaking Pride in Prevention series, a set of guides dedicated to understanding LGBTIQ+ family violence and undertaking the work of primary prevention – the prevention of violence before it occurs.

The new Pride in Prevention Evaluation Guide: A guide for evaluation to support primary prevention of family violence experienced by LGBTIQ communities is designed to support the existing Pride in Prevention guide, Messaging Guide and Partnerships Guide, in helping organisations working on primary prevention of violence against LGBTIQ+ people in evaluating the success of their work.

The guide has been produced by the LGBTIQ Family Violence Prevention Project, a world-leading project led by Rainbow Health Australia and funded by Family Safety Victoria.

It draws on expertise in evaluation from within and outside of the sectors engaged with primary prevention of family violence experienced by LGBTIQ communities. This includes the experience of evaluating the first phase of RHA’s LGBTIQ Family Violence Prevention Project, which resulted in Pride in Prevention and the application of its conceptual model and priority actions by three Victorian partner organisations: Thorne Harbour Health, Zoe Belle Gender Collective, and Safe and Equal.

The guide was launched on August 22 online, featuring a panel conversation with experts in primary prevention programming and evaluation: Dr Wei Leng Kwok, Principal Consultant at WLK Consulting and lead author on the Evaluation Guide; Marina Carman, Executive Director of Primary Prevention at Safe and Equal and lead author on the Evaluation Guide; and Sue Rosenhain, Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Health Policy at Women’s Health in the North.

The panel discussion explored the principles that inform the guide, and how it can be used to develop the mindset and skills to guide effective evaluation.
