The annual event will be held on Sunday 8th October at the Mildura Arts Centre and is a multicultural celebration enjoyed by Indians, Southeast Asians, Pacific nations, and other communities worldwide.
Head of Campus in Mildura Sandy Connor says La Trobe is committed to celebrating multiculturism in the Mildura community.
“We are very excited to be again supporting our local Indian community and this important community event. We’ve stepped up as the Platinum Partner this year and have plans to develop our partnership even further.
“La Trobe University has a rich history with India that continues to grow. In fact, our Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar was in India earlier this year, cementing partnerships for global research and industry collaboration.
“We are glad our sponsorship can help celebrate this important occasion in the Mildura community,” Sandy said.
Sunraysia Indian Association President, Mrs Manjeet Kaur Johar said “With heartfelt gratitude, we extend our appreciation to La Trobe University for this impactful alliance, a beacon of cultural unity in the Sunraysia community. La Trobe's role as the Platinum Partner reflects a genuine dedication to fostering multiculturalism, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will bring to our Festival of Lights – India Day celebrations.”
SIA recently celebrated the 77th Indian Independence Day, a first one for the Indian Community in Sunraysia and will also hold a “Taste of India” International night at the Grand Hotel on Saturday 9 September in partnership with Mildura Upland Sister City Association and Quality Hotel Mildura Grand.
