Employability Expo: Future workforce showcased

The La Trobe University Employability Expo saw industry and student talent connect – the event embraced by the University’s community after a three-year absence.

Participating organisations – including Amazon and CANN Group – met with penultimate and final year students from across La Trobe campuses. Held at the Melbourne Campus in Bundoora, it was the ideal forum to explore student placements, entry level, graduate, part time and casual roles, and vacation programs on offer.

"Thank you to the La Trobe team for putting on such a great Employability Expo. It was fantastic to meet so many enthusiastic students with insightful questions and to share more about the programs we offer and life as an Amazonian. Through a multiple discipline event such as this we were able to highlight that at Amazon, it’s about what you’re passionate about, not just what you studied," said Samantha Tennant, Student Programs at Amazon.

While all students were encouraged to attend the Expo, the needs and priorities of La Trobe’s industry network also remain central. In order to cater to demand, key discipline areas were flagged in preparation for the Expo including the arts, social sciences and communications, business and commerce, criminology, engineering, information technology and science.

Ensuring discussions led to real-world opportunities, to be eligible for the Expo organisations planning to exhibit had to have student positions available within six months of the event.
