Held on Friday 27 October at the La Trobe University Melbourne Campus in Bundoora, the CSL and La Trobe University Engagement Day involved morning break-out sessions with CSL representatives (including CSL Therapeutic Area Leads) and select La Trobe researchers, followed by a networking lunch attended by Pro Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement) – Dr Megan Fisher, and afternoon presentations from CSL keynote speakers.
The afternoon presentations were a unique opportunity for La Trobe University researchers to understand the key challenges CSL are looking to address via academic collaboration.
Attendees heard from the following CSL leaders:
Dr Marthe D’Ombrain
Senior Director and Head, Global Research Innovation, CSL
Topic: Overview of CSL and Core Areas of Interest.
Chris Alma
Director, Cell and Gene Therapy, CSL
Topic: Cell and Gene Therapy Challenges at CSL.
Steven Rockman
Director, Technical Development and Global Process Innovation, CSL Seqirus

The mutual sharing of knowledge helped to inform and identify research opportunities aligned with CSL and La Trobe University’s shared goal of driving the translation of more Australian medical research to improve human health outcomes.
