La Trobe League Women’s and Mixed Basketball competition set to launch

La Trobe Sport is excited to announce the formation of a new partnership with the Darebin Basketball Association, which will see new La Trobe League Women’s and Mixed basketball competitions launched in late July.

The new competitions will be held weekly at the La Trobe Sports Stadium and are set to kick off with the new Mixed Basketball competition on Sunday 24 July, while the Women’s competition will commence the following day on Monday 25 July.

Adding to La Trobe Sport’s current offerings within our La Trobe League social sport competitions, the new partnership with the Darebin Basketball Association will provide participants with the premier social basketball experience in Melbourne’s north. All games will be live streamed on the Team La Trobe website via Keemotion cameras installed within La Trobe Sport’s state-of-the-art facilities, while A Grade-level referees will be provided by Darebin Basketball Association across all La Trobe League competitions.

La Trobe League is a fantastic way to have fun and stay active during your time at our University. Not only is La Trobe League an easy and affordable way to stay active (La Trobe students are eligible to gain discounted registration fees up to $10 off), but it is also a fun way to socialise with your friends or meet some new ones.

Most importantly, you do not have to be a La Trobe student or staff member to take part, with all La Trobe League competitions available for the whole community to participate in.

Off the back of the La Trobe University Women’s Basketball team becoming national University Basketball League champions last month, the introduction of social Women’s and Mixed basketball competitions solidifies La Trobe Sport’s commitment to driving equitable female sport development and participation opportunities within Melbourne’s north.
