Digital Biology
Digital Biology stands at the frontier of modern biology, merging the world of bits and bytes with the biological realm to transform our understanding of life, disease, and health. This program sits at the confluence of biology, computational science, and artificial intelligence (AI). It will apply advanced machine learning techniques and data analysis tools to biological data to enable a deeper understanding of complex biological systems and enhance disease prediction and prevention.
Research focus
Through this program, we aim to translate the vast and growing biological data pool into actionable knowledge, a process that will be accelerated through the integration of AI and digital biology. The Digital Biology program will be developed in close collaboration with the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (SCEMS) at La Trobe University and Industry partners, to maximise the applications of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Mathematical modelling to Biomedical research.
