Frequently asked questions

A WAM is an average mark that takes into account the credit point value of the subjects that you have completed. It is based on the actual mark of all subjects completed in your course at any given time. You’ll need to provide your WAM from your successfully completed undergraduate (or postgraduate) degree to be considered.

If you have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at La Trobe but are not eligible for Postgraduate Fee Support based on your WAM, you may still be eligible for the existing 10% Alumni fee support.

To be eligible for the Postgraduate Fee Support, you must be offered, enrolled and commencing your studies on the date listed in your Letter of Offer in 2026.

The fee support cannot be deferred to an intake in a later academic year and will only apply for the duration of the course as long as you remain enrolled in a fee-paying place for your course.

No, the Postgraduate Fee Support is not transferable to another course or fee type unless La Trobe initiates a course transition to a new version of the eligible course you are enrolled into.

Yes. If you receive the Postgraduate Fee Support, you can still apply to defer your payments through FEE-HELP, the Australian Government loan program, as long as you meet all FEE-HELP entry requirements and criteria.

For more information about FEE-HELP, visit Costs, fees and scholarships.

No. If you fail a subject, then you won’t lose your Postgraduate Fee Support but you will be responsible for any costs associated to repeating the subject.

However, if you are excluded from the course for academic progression or misconduct, your fee support will also expire.

The Postgraduate Fee Support and any eligible Alumni Fee Support will be applied to your Statement of Account once you have enrolled in your offered intake.

Please keep in mind it can take up to seven days for your fee support to be processed and displayed on your Statement of Account.

No. If you enrol into a course that is not listed as an eligible postgraduate course, you will not be assessed for Postgraduate Fee Support.

When you apply for an eligible postgraduate award course, you will automatically be considered for Postgraduate Fee Support.

You don’t need to fill out any separate applications or forms. Your Letter of Offer will outline your offer type and whether your application has been successful for Postgraduate Fee Support.

If you are eligible for a donor or a La Trobe funded cash scholarship, then you’ll be eligible to receive both.

The Postgraduate Fee Support and Alumni Fee Support will be applied from the first teaching period of study at La Trobe University for your duration of course and will be applied against your tuition fees listed on your Statement of Account. Any eligible scholarships will be paid as per the T&Cs listed in your Scholarship Letter of Offer for the stated duration.
