Borrow from other libraries (through CAVAL or ULANZ)

If you're a La Trobe University student or staff member and can't find an item in our libraries, you can borrow it from other academic libraries.

Items from other Victorian university and TAFE libraries (CAVAL)

You can borrow from other Victorian university and TAFE libraries as part of the CAVAL program. Please read about your responsibilities as a user of the CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Program.

  1. Obtain a CAVAL card from the host library you wish to borrow from by presenting your La Trobe University student or staff ID card.
  2. You can search the catalogues of participating libraries to find material you want to borrow.
  3. To borrow an item, take both your CAVAL card and your La Trobe student or staff card to the service desk of the other library.
  4. Learn about the borrowing restrictions and make sure to return items to the other library by the due date.

Items from other Australian and New Zealand university libraries (ULANZ)

You can borrow from participating university libraries across Australia and New Zealand as part of the ULANZ borrowing scheme.

  1. You'll need to provide a photo ID and proof of current enrolment (students) or current employment (staff). Take these to the service desk at the library you wish to borrow from.
  2. Borrowing conditions will vary depending on the rules of the library you're visiting. Please check the ULANZ details on their website or ask at the service desk for more information.
